Livingstone is now London Mayor - What now?
Ken Livingstone (not our choice) has been entrusted by the people of London to do something for our great city and its residents. First of all when can we expect the fire appliance restored at Hornchurch, which he promised to do last year in front of M.P's John Cryer,Eileen Gordon Tory PPC Robin Squire, members of the London Fire Brigade and members of the concerned public from Hornchurch. Conjestion Charges were Livingstones main prority. now he tells us that they cannot be introduced for a number of years. another promise made to get the Green Vote, we suspect . Livingstone has made a promise to fund the infrastructure around Wembley Stadium to the tune of 25 million. This is a National Football Stadium so why should Londoners be made to pay for it? Could it be that Brentcontains the constituency of Livingstone? When is he going to fund the deprived areas of London? This money would safeguard the LFB in the future as well as pay for the restoration of the cuts made this year. Only 1.5 million was needed to stop the cuts. He will be judged as somebody who breaks any promise made which enabled him to be elected. What is Livingstone playing at? Is it financial greed or an inflated ego that makes our Mayor think he can handle the biggest political job in the country after Prime Minister. He should resign as a M.P. as he cannot possibly do both jobs properly. (he has made it plain that he intends to carry on in both capacities until the next general election) He should also keep his nose out of foreign and european affairs Ford is stopping production of cars at Dagenham, we should have a total boycott of every Ford product (including Volvo and Mazda which are owned by Ford) that are not made or assembled in this country and only use a company's product that produces cars etc. in the UK such as ROVER, Vauxhall, Nissan Peugeot and Honda. Land Rover and Jaguar are also now owned by Ford. Whilst they are still made in this country they should not be a subject of a boycott.Only action by the ordinary people of this country can protect our workers and our country's vehicle manufacturers. Did you hear that pathetic statement by the Ford (UK) Managing Director. What arrogance. What a boss to have! The Labour Government in 3 years has done more for education, the NHS and the poorer people of this country than the Tories did in 18 years. Unfortunately they do not seem able to communicate this to the public. The Tories will attack Labour on any stupid reason. The voters of this country will have a choice at the next general election. Vote Labour for a better NHS, a better education system and less people in poverty or vote Tory and go back to the cuts in hospital beds doctors, nurses, starve the schools of cash and reduce teacher training places. They did all this last time. Serious crime is of great concern but even accounting for the rise in violent crime it is still lower than when the Tories allowed crime to increase in leaps and bounds in their 18 years. Now they cannot even agree on a drugs policy!!

BLOCKADES OF MOTOR/CENTRAL HEATING FUEL
Of the last 20 pence per litre increase in petrol prices 18 pence has been put on by the petrol companies. We agree that petrol is too heavily taxed but a least Gordon Brown has taken off the accumalator introduced by the Tories, otherwise petrol would have been 6% more expensive than now. the companies always put up prices on oil price increases but never bring them down to low prices when oil is cheap. This Labour Government has put a brake on the oil companies but we must realise that the OPEC countries will get everything they can out of us the consumers. Don,t forget that these farmers who were blocking roads were running their tractors on red diesel i.e. about 22p per litre. With the grants they get they want more. Hauliers make a lot of money . All of them pay less in taxes than their European counterparts. The French even have to pay motorway tolls in their own country. What other industries are stopped from going bust by subsidies? Why are all other self-employed persons not feather-bedded like Farmers and transport. When these people (many belonging to the Tory Party, Countryside Alliance and all anti Labour) realise that the damage to the country is enourmous, peoples lives are put at risk and disabled people were given no concessions during their actions. No Government of any political colour can give into blatant black-mail by any section of the population, however just their cause may seem. you have a vote, if you do not like what the Government do, vote for those who you are sure, NOTE THAT -who you are sure, will carry out your wishes. I have not met a Government yet that can do everything it promised. World Factors like OPEC and wars cause promises made to be broken or put back. We believe that we have the best Government available. Trust the Tories after their record and their quite stupid promises - you must be a candidate for cloud 9 if you vote for them. Already we are being bombarded with Christmas advertisements - whatever happened to the real Christmas I wonder? How can people on benefit and pensions be able to pay the prices they are asking for these presents? Have a good Autum - Best wishes Terry Matthews Branch Secretary c/o Labour Hall 11, Park Lane, Hornchurch, L.B. Havering RM11 1BB
